Nigerians are reportedly no longer eligible for visa on arrival in Tanzania, as disclosed by a Nigerian Twitter user @supersanusi.
According to the Nigerian Twitter user, other countries too are affected by the recent development and any Nigerian who shows up without a visa will get deported. He further advised travelers to call the Tanzanian embassy to avoid embarrassment.
Read his tweet below;
Nigerians, (& a host of other countries actually) are no longer eligible for Visa on arrival in Tanzania. You won’t find this info anywhere at the moment (even airlines don’t know, cos it started 2 days ago), but best believe ur bum will be deported if you show up without a Visa.
So if you already have a trip scheduled, or you’re planning one, I’ll suggest you call their embassy before you leave to avoid the embarrassment.
@toberixng who also confirmed the recent development wrote;
A country where Nigerians are not allowed to visit, has lost her touch of realities. Nigerians make things happen even though we are saddled with so many challenges we still put a smile on our faces, strong and always find our ways around things.
I just spoke to the immigration authorities in Tanzania and confirmed that the visa on arrival policy no longer applies to Nigerians and a bunch of others (Mali, Niger, Yemen, Somalia, etc). Now, we have to apply in advance at the embassy of have a Tanzanian apply on our behalf.
