Human rights activists, civil society organisations and college students on Thursday staged a peaceable protest in Abuja to demand justice for late Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, a 13-years-old woman who was raped by a father and his son in Ugbokolo in Benue State.
The protesters have been seen carrying black T.shirt with inscriptions like: ‘I am Ochanya’; ‘#Justice4Ochanya’; ‘Say No To Rape’; ‘We Demand Justice for Ochanya’ ; ‘Hang The Rapist’; and ‘#Justice4OchanyaNow’ amongst others.
The protesters gathered on the Unity Fountain, Abuja calling on the federal government to make sure that those that perpetrated the dastardly act be introduced to guide.
They additionally marched to the Ministry of Justice to register their grievances and demanded justice for the deceased.
Addressing the protesters, the Coordinator for #Justice4Ochanya, Mr. Great Felix, stated: “We want the Minister of Justice to expedite action and ensure that justice is delivered. This is because an injustice to one is an injustice to all.”
The protesters later marched to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
